Sight words

Sight words are words which we use frequently in our daily life. Sight words make up majority of our conversation and they repeat a lot. By teaching sight words to young learner make them confident in reading and communicating as well. Planning engaging virtual activities to learn sight words is important and play big part in learner's success.

Some time, its challenging for kids to sound it out and to memorize the sight words. So, the trick is to make them excited to learn and to create fun activities which they want to play. Play based learning stay longer with learner. They will remember the activity and play which will lead them to remember their words too. To keep them active and engaged for virtual learning, teacher need to plan lesson fun filled. So today, I am sharing my virtual teaching resource slides with you. Hope it will help. Happy teaching!

You can start by asking them " Which alphabet you can see"? or " What word you can see"? If they need help, help them or give prompts to read. Ask rest of the students to write the same word, which will help students to practice printing. for activity you can ask them to share a sentence by putting that sight word. They can draw connected to the sentence. For e.g. if they read sight word "See" then ask them to make a sentence. for e.g. they say " I see a bird". Ask them to draw and color that picture. Kids love coloring and drawing. That's how they can make connection of their learning with real world. It will also give you opportunity to access their learning. Since, we are close to reporting season.
